Oscar’s Weekend Beauty - Alyssa

Alyssa Milano Oscar's Makeup

I did a lot of makeup for the 2013 Academy Awards, including pre-Oscars and post-Oscars party looks (Many of them on my latest muse, Alyssa Milano) - I wanted to break down my favorite look of the weekend: Alyssa’s Refined Cat Eye

Alyssa came up with the idea for a 60s inspired makeup look and left it up to my interpretation; she’s really great and trusting like that. I didn’t want to go too period or literal with the look because believe it or not, I’m the type that likes to play it safe. On the red carpet, you could be one brush stroke away from overdoing it and ending up on someones “worst” list. So, I kept things fresh and modern by using a gloss instead of a matte lipstick, and giving her that Edie Sedgwick ultra-defined crease with a brown instead of black.

My friend Chelsea Miller is a gorgeous model (melseachiller.tumblr.com) & she had a charity event to go to tonight so she came over to get her makeup done.

It was a great opportunity for me to try out my new Clinique Chubby Sticks. Chelsea is wearing ‘Graped-Up’ — doesn’t she look lovely?

New nails inspired by different nail art I’ve seen here on tumblr. Done by Tran at Pampered Hands on Melrose. Haven’t had a full set since last Summer! Trying to make Ayla and Lil’ Lila proud of me haha.

Grooming I did on Michael B Jordan (AKA YUNG B JORDZ) featured in VIBE magazine. Shot by Ben Cope. I love B Jordz, he might be a favorite.

Here’s a little video my boyfriend & I did together 3 summers ago when we lived in NY. It was inspired by how hot we were in our apartment with no AC. I did pretty much everything (I even styled it!) except for shoot & edit the darn thing (Karl did that). We’ve both progressed a lot skill-wise since then but it’s cute to revisit one of our older collabos.
